Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng Need To Ignore Each Other

It's strange that Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng were able to be tight-lipped enough about the disintegration of their short marriage for a while then suddenly both are out for blood. Miss Phạm was apparently quoted saying that she "need a strong shoulder for her and her son to lean on", Quang Dũng fired back with "he's still here to take care of his son". He also let loose that his ex-wife current squeeze (is? was?) a good friend of his (drama!). Anyway, for their son's sake both of them need to ignore and stop taking shots at each other in interviews. Normally this would be fun to watch two famous exes going at it in the public arena except there is a kid involved who did not asked to be in the middle of all this public bickering.

Think about it Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng, if both of you hold your tongues right now then your son will not read about his parents badmouthed each other in public later and you two will get to keep your nice public images intact. Win-win for everyone!

Make Yourself Heard!

To Watch Or Not To Watch Cánh Đồng Bất Tận (Floating Lives)

I read this short story by Nguyễn Ngọc Tư a few years back. It was very good, it had great characterizations, excellent proses but the subject matter was bleak with a shocking ending that was heartbreakingly sad yet bitter sweet at the same time. The story have plenty of violence especially toward women, I was seriously distressed at the beginning when the Sương got beaten, chased and assorted nastiness done to her by a mob and again at the end when Nương was raped and her father was forced to watch (highlight the text to read the spoilers). Cánh Đồng Bất Tận is a tough read and not for the faint of heart but definitely worth reading.

Back to the movie, I know it was released last year in Việt Nam but I have not seen the movie yet because I was not sure if I can sit through all 110 minutes of it. The trailer look good, the acting look better than typical Vietnamese movies. I think I will go read the story again then watch the movie to see how well it translated into movie form.
